Shawn M. Swenson

Shawn is the Founder of Redpoint Wealth Management and serves as the firm's CEO and registered OSJ Principal with LPL Financial.  He is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) and has more than 25 years of experience.  Although Redpoint Wealth offers comprehensive financial planning and investment management services to a wide range of clients, Shawn's focus is working with the firm's clients who are quickly approaching retirement or who have recently retired.  Shawn emphasizes that the five years before retirement and the five years of transition after retirement is the single most important decade in a person's financial life.  Dealing with complex issues such as the timing of social security, coordinating the liquidation of retirement and brokerage accounts, Roth conversions, tax mitigation, pension payment options and income distribution planning can be very complicated.  And without the luxury of time to recover from mistakes, it is vital to have a well thought-out plan in place.

Shawn is an Investment Advisor Representative with LPL Financial, and has his SIE, Series 6, 7, 24, 26, 63 and 66 securities registrations held with LPL Financial, as well as his Life and Health Insurance license.  He is licensed in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Texas.  He earned his B.S. in Finance from ASU in 1997 and his Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation in 2006.  In 2016, Shawn became a SmartVestor Pro for nationally syndicated radio talk show host Dave Ramsey.

Family

Shawn moved to Tempe, Arizona in 1991 to attend Arizona State University where he earned his B.S. in Finance and has lived there ever since.  He is blessed with two wonderful boys who constantly remind him how precious and valuable time is in one’s life.  The family motto around the Swenson house is “work hard during the week and play hard on the weekends!”

Fun

One of Shawn's passions is rock climbing. In fact, our firm is named after a climbing term.  A "Redpoint" is when you have been working on completing a difficult climb and you finally make it to the top for the very first time. In addition to climbing and hiking, Shawn also enjoys playing tennis, motocross racing, and riding his Harley.
